That’s dumb. If there is a crowd full of white people and only one black dude I will not refer to the black dude as the dude with the red shirt. I will not refer to him as that uncle tom nigger boo either. I will refer to him as the black man. It’s not demeaning in any way it’s just pointing out the most obvious thing about him that separates him from the rest so people know who I’m talking about.

I agree, kinda. But the ultimate goal for me is to not look at the distinguishing characteristics at all, but learn to see all people as people. Yes, it is necessary to see those characteristics so that you can know that person from some one else. It’s more of an exercise in avoiding judgment before I get to know someone.
