Madchild is legit. My biggest problem with hip hop as a genre is that a lot of the artists don't really respect it and just phone a lot of thier shit in. That's true for pretty much everyone from the Beastie Boys to ICP, and it drives me fucking nuts. Madchild and Swollen Members come across (to me anyways) as absloutely busting their fucking asses to keep it fresh and put out a great fucking track every single time. Maybe they don't always hit the mark, but they are some talented motherfuckers. I dig almost all of what they do and respect the hell out of it 100%.

Ces Cru is a good one. I think they used to be like that and an album like Playground is a perfect example of busting your ass on every track to make em all unique and great. I still love em but I feel like they run out of steam on some of their more recent stuff- they're still as good as it gets when they're at their best, but a lot of tracks on the recent albums sound like filler. Maybe I just need to listen to it more though.
As for Tech N9ne, I also love the guy but I wouldn't put him in this category at all. Some of his tracks are fucking awesome and legendary, but most of them sound like an attempt to score crossover radio airplay, or just some bullshit he came up with in 5 minutes. Tech doesn't have to impress anyone anymore- he knows it and his records sound like it, which is the problem. Still though he's incredibly talented and capable of putting out some insane shit. I will check out anything he does and always respect him for that.

Just received a compilation cd I ordered called "Defenders of the Underworld",from AmazonUK. It has this dope old SWOLLEN MEMBERS track on it I've never heard before, called "Sinful Bliss". Don't think they've ever put that one on a proper album. It's so fresh, I'm going to heckle them to perform it, when I'm at the next show!
