Wait a minute, I heard cops raided the drugbridge in 2013… and that was at hogrock.
The cops didnt Raid anything at Hogrock….Some dude, no one is sure if he was even a Juggalo, Overdid his personal limit of Heroin and Died in a Tent….The Staff at Hogrock Blocked off the Bridge for half the Day while the States and the Coroner Wagon came and picked up the body and asked the Usual Questions….Drug Bridge was open for business later that night.

true, its a stretch to say police raided anybody at hog rock, but i went to three gatherings there, and saw cops on the grounds all at all three.
they were not smiling.
and im sure the kid was a juggalo. i doubt he was hitchhiking across america and just happened to walk by.
no question, though, that incident knock the drug bridge back a few notches.
this years police presence was utterly tolerable.

I’ve been trying to get to one for a few years now. It always comes down to these three problems for me: Money, transport and someone to travel with. Money can be saved, but transport can be a hassle, and everyone I personally have ever known don’t want to go because they’d rather spend all their money on weed or booze.

I’ve been building up my first Gathering. I’ve always imagined going with someone.Going with people makes all the difference in the world for sure. For my 1st, I rode in a bus from Manhattan to get there with these 30 ninjas

damn brother, that’s what I’m talking about. Groups of us together, on a bus, heading to a gathering. The ride there would be an experience in itself. Whoops to this.

why you need someone to travel with?or rather, why is it that that is a problem?
Traveling alone sucks. And it’s awkward. IDK. I’ve been building up my first Gathering. I’ve always imagined going with someone.
I took a greyhound and then Scruffy picked me up in Columbus. Totally worth it. Basically I just chilled with different people from the forums.

well, thats not what i was referring to, but speaking of which… i was moving a bunch of shit around my house the other day, and found that. gimme a mailing address, ill send it to ya. itll make for a great souvenir of a funny non-memory.
what i was referring to, though, was the perfect camp location. it was so perfect, im not gonna divulge any details to the internet, except that it was under the big shady tree. to the left of the stage.

I felt kinda robbed that I was never able to experience Hog Rock. At the beginning of last year, I was so psyched to take that long road there. I had poured over every map service, plotting how to get there, looking over the grounds from a satellite view, watched every YouTube “walk around” video I could to get a sense of the place… I was stoked and primed… Then the venue changed… and again…
But after all, Legend Valley was great! The one thing I’ll never forget about the place is that from the moment I stepped out of my car, the place smelled of sweet grass. Every day! I was surreal how no matter how close you got to those port-o-crappers, the wind carried this sweet smell throughout… but whatever…
I would have to say that the absolute WORST thing about the venue… those FUCKING ROCKS!!! I could handle the smaller hills but with those fuckin’ rocks… it just saps your energy by the time you get to the top. Slipping and keeping your balance on large rocks sliding on smaller ones navigating your way around people and trying to keep out of the gutters along the sides was just so draining. And considering that most of my activities were divided between the Seminar Tent at the TOP of the venue and the Carousel Stage on the other side that had two hill of its own to traverse… it really makes you have to choose if what you’re going to see is worth how wrecked you’ll be by the time you get there. Add in a little intoxication and general laziness from sleep deprivation… and that JCW Stage hill…. HO-LEEE SHIT!!! I actually had to stop and sit down 3/4 of the way up one time! If they had put that Slip-N-Slide down there, you’d just need 21.1 Jugga-watts of electricity and you’d be in the fuckin’ future by the time you hit the bottom!
I guess I just did my psychic planning well enough as my camp site was PERFECT (Oddities)! Other than the ninja a bit up the hill that brought way younger kids trying to annex their little area for themselves and re-route traffic to the stage tent behind us through our area (which was still not a problem as everyone seemed to walk on their tip toes through the place) it was great. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep being so close to a stage but fuck if that tired don’t hit ya like a brick and put you out when you gotta sleep.
Never got fucked with (except out of Faygo love). Never had an issue with food or showers. Somehow managed to not have to do the deed with the crappers until the last day and by then I had gotten the info on the cleaning schedules so…
I look forward to next year like CRAZY!! In fact, this shit is making my gears work already. Knowing better, having a bunch of gear already, having met people… It’s SO on! Legend Valley was great! And I’ll be there earlier to get my tree back!
But I still would’a wanted to see Lake Hepatitis…

If I could get a lift from Columbus to Thornville, The Gathering 2016 would be a REAL possibility for me. I can get on a bus to Columbus, no problem. But cab fares from Columbus to Legend Valley ain’t price friendly.

the stuff about rocky paths. and sweet grass aromas.
yeah, the cruddy quality of most of the foot paths was a gripe this year. then again, the first year at cave in rock, some of the paths were a lot worse. they mustve been graded at some point.
and i agree that legend valley smelled better.
by day two at hog rock, lake hepatitis smelled like a portopotty. by day three, the whole place smelled like lake hep.
