Hey everyone! Just checking in here to see if anyone here passed by my camp and saw my mailbox. Our camp was back behind the barricade next to second stage, and we had the mailbox right on the corner as you walked up to the first intersection. I met tons of cool peeps as they passed by, either because they stopped to chat about it or because they left us something inside it! If anyone of you stopped by to chill with us, I'd love to know who you are!
If anyone cares to read my trip blog about my time at the Gathering and all the fun stuff we collected from the mailbox, feel free to check it out. I have tons of pics online, and tried my best to give a detailed account of everything I experienced. You're Lucky nobody shit in it, every experience i have had at the gathering has unfortunately been really negative...People stealing shit from my car, people accusing me of stealing their shit then trying to fight me, fucking canadians placing their goddamn tents RIGHT in front of mine while i slept so i couldnt even get out of the fucker in the morning, king gordy being a fucking snobby shithell....four years of nothing but shit experiences ,its a shame

^ Dang, I didn't even try to click the links. Not very familiar with this type of forum posting, but I gave it a try haha I'll try to go back and edit it and make the links work.
And thanks for the nice words! I saw you in a bunch of different places, doing all kinds of fun looking press type stuff. It was fun to go back and read the reports from all the press people that covered the Gathering. So I was happy to contribute one to the net where it was written as just the average lette having a good time.

i didnt see it. looks like i was camped somewhat close to yall too. and as mentioned earlier, you're lucky nobody shit in the mailbox. That seemed to be the theme of the gathering this year....shit. Every port a potty looked like someone had a super soaker attached to their ass and sprayed walls and celings( seriously, the ceiling), people were hanging their asses off of love train and shitting in the road, and somebody(or multiple people) shit all over the steps to seminar/comedy tent, and i dodged more random piles of people shit than i care to count over the course of the week. yup...shit
if I had seen your mailbox i woulda dropped something in it im sure...not sure what, maybe one of the huindreds of jello shots i bought lol

Lmfao so true, I had to bare witness to someone shitting off the side of the love train as it was coming up our hill, some of the funniest shit (no pun intended) I've ever seen. And yeah the port a potties were insane this year, I stuck to the the black ones with the porn posted all over it and the ones by the good showers, cleanest GOTJ toilets ever!

Next year if i go i would like to meet up with some of you guys and actually maybe have a good experience for once, maybe i just got the shitty end up the stick and ended up around D-bags........i will admit i met some really cool ass people every time i went, but all the good was outweighed by the bad

^ Yep yep. Their shit became nearly impossible to navigate after one of their updates. I tried for about half an hour to find their forum, and maybe it's just me but I can't find anything there. Hopefully they fix it soon cuz I'd like to be active at both sites again.

The mailbox you put up is an awesome original idea, kicking myself for not thinking of it!!! That's fuckin awesome dude and your review was the best one I have ever read (sorry Scottie), and if you have any other ones from past years Iwould love to read them, honestly just pure awesomeness, I thoroughly enjoyed your recap, thank you. I also hope you keep up the mailbox thing, I plan to stop by next year and leave you a presentor two. A truely awesome idea and an awesome review. To answer your question, no, I did not see your mailbox at The Gathering this year, I wish I did.

^ Thanks!! I really appreciate when people take the time to read my blog! I definitely plan on putting up the mailbox every year. We're really keeping our fingers crossed that we can camp in the same area next year. You just walk past the barricade to the left of second stage, and stay to the right at the fork.
I was also at the 2011 GOTJ, and wrote up a big report of it as well. It starts here…If you go to the main page of the blog and click on "2011" on the right, you'll find it listed under October posts.

I used the link on top of the 6th post from the top and just flipped over a few pages. I just read your other review and enjoyed it at much as the first, read all 6 days!! You definetily took a beating that first year though dude, a fucking bitch beater? That just flat out sucks, but at least you said fuck it and laughed it off. Now that's the Gathering spirit dude!!! I get hit by shit every single year too. What can I say? Staleness. I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to write those reviews, they really took me back!!! Most reviews are done from more of a media aspect, while reading yours was from the fan perspective. And I've never read a review that mentioned the stoner boats lol, you missed out not grabbing one of them, they're disgustingly delicious. Anyways, you get it dude. Gathering spits you out and says take that bitch but we all keep coming back. Best Gathering reviews I ever read, no shit. Thanks for helping kill my boredom in such an awesome way!! MCL

^ Thanks!! I really do appreciate it. I've been writing about my travels since high school because I love going back and reading about the fun stuff I did. I would never remember it all unless I wrote it down. If others like reading it too, that's all the better. Assuming that there is a Gathering this year, there will be another big report about it coming this fall too!
And yes, the first year was rough. Got hit with the bitch beater, got stabbed in the ankle by the sign, got horribly sick because all of my stuff was wet and I swear that every part of my body hurt. All of us got sick that year. But it made me learn what I needed to do differently this past year, so my experience was MUCH better in 2012. And as for those Stoner Boats...I haven't eaten red meat (besides hamburger) for the last 20 or so years. And the one time I did convince myself to eat a cheesesteak a few years ago in Philly...yeah, my body didn't have kind things to say about that sandwich haha So I decided to pass on the Stoner Boat! This past year, I fell in love with the chicken gyros from the place by second stage, so those will be my staples from now on! :-)
But thank you again. Definitely come find us this year! Even if we're not in the exact same spot, just look for the mailbox!
