I have zero artistic ability, but I’m guessing if he wanted paint I wouldn’t have a problem finding someone to paint him up. Am I right?
probably. there will naturally be lots and lots of facepainters around, its just a matter of finding somebody who feels like doing it, id say.

Best quote ever…If the girl getting fucked by the funnel cakes (Im not sure if he means a group of funnel cakes are getting down, or ninjas just need to keep their stamina up and are taking shots of cherry syrup from the funnel cake stand to attempt to leave a mark her chasm.) ANYWAY…If the girl getting fucked by the funnel cakes isn’t there head directly south to the guy with a cardboard sign that says: Its my birthday show me tits!!!. Should he be incapacitated or unavailable…There should be a one legged ninja with another cardboard sign that says 5 Dolla Body high ask about the happy ending. Ask Ryda how hes been then proceed to the exit.

So the implication here is that I myself should NOT be the guy with the aforementioned cardboard sign, am I right?
Depends what you are seeking. People have all kinds of signs at the Gathering. From “Free breast examinations” to “Cardboard sign $5”. You could probably start a whole thread just about cardboard signs at the gathering.
And you will definitely NOT need a sign saying “Show me your tits.” You will see plenty of that and much more without ever having to ask.

Bring some walkie talkies and some extra batteries. It will be much easier getting ahold of each other should you get separated.
If anything, it should be a positive experience for you kid. You can show him that he can like ICP and their music, and still be a respectable person. You can show him having a good time at a festival is possible without being high or wasted.

salutations.
speaking personally, i usually recommend that juggalos dont bring children.
that said, a fourteen year-old is probably not a child. some are, but most, i would think, can handle the chaos and general, uh, adultness, of a gathering. especially if their juggalo parent is right there.
plenty of fourteen year-olds have shown up at the gathering with nobody else. i dont approve of that, either, but it happens.
mainly, id only be concerned about drugs and/or alcohol, followed by physical safety. not to say hed be in direct danger; but, for example, if hes not prepared for slamdancing, the gathering is not a good place to learn.
Peeping this advice, I will back it up by noting at GOTJ 2000 I was 16, and the only shenanigans I got into were wrestling in a supervises ring and this dude slamming my neck with one hand. I knew little about wrestling then, but turns out those rings are bouncy and didn’t hurt me a bit. We have photos of my direct neck-floor impact too! … as far as drugs we had a blunt on the ride there, and one at the hotel each night we returned. Never before or during the event. A random Jugg handed me a joint near the pit and it dudnt get me high. No pcp lace at least lol… but Scruff is right on the moshing, as one mustake could kill soneone or injure. Keep outside perimeters as drunk dudes dont care if there are kids and ladies near their dancing space. . . Things being thriwn is always a subconscious concern. That there is enough of a reason why i might keep my daughters home… but 14 might be mature enough. I waa that age my first ICP showzam

Great replies, folks. Thanks. I’m not sure if the expense of walkies would be worthwhile, I’ve already discussed with him if we lose each other to just meet back at the car. It’s something I’ll have to think about – a REALLY good suggestion if it turns out to be necessary. But aside from that, mizzle, your post is EXACTLY why we’re going.
@OMD – Like the story, man… So you can just get in the ring and wrestle for shits and giggles? I think I’m too old for that shit! I know my way around a pit, I’ve seen the best and worst they can offer, participated in them, instigated them, and worked security trying to control them. The kid’s still learning, but the little experience he’s had he held his own.
My only bad concert experience ever was actually at an ICP show, I think it was at Toledo Sports Arena in ’97 if I remember right… Handled the pit just fine, protecting the juggalettes in the front row as always (bracing against the stage, giving them an uncompressed area to stand in, you all know what I mean right?)… Well, with both hands bracing against the stage, you don’t have any protection overhead… As I found out… Boot to the head, knocked the eff out, awoke in the stands just as ICP’s set was ending. Dammit. The ONLY freakin’ time I’ve ever been knocked out, too, and it was from a random crowdsurfer. Figure that shit out heh.
Oh, and agree 100%, wonka. That was part of the point of me posting – I didn’t wanna be “that guy” to bring a kid to an event kids don’t go to… But I kinda already knew otherwise, my first ICP show was when I was his age anyway.

Figured I’d resurrect my post since I have two additional questions I’ve run across…
1: It’s gonna be a 4-6 hour drive for me (Haven’t mapped it, just going by typical drive time from here to Columbus), and I took vacation starting the 23rd – would it be wisest for me to just leave when I get out of work the 22nd at 3p? Get a hotel the night before? Or will there be folks lined up the night before that I would just join up with?
2: How do y’all handle the “Gathering Fever” I’ve seen people mention? We’re starting to suffer from it BIG TIME, and July just feels like it’s getting further and further away… The continued snow ain’t helping either… Sigh.

At HogRock they had the parking lot party the day before that lasted through the night till they opened the gates the next morning. 2 years ago, I was one of the lucky 700 or so that got in early (the night before the gates were scheduled to open) but they didn’t do that last year. What will happen at Legends? No clue. I have a hotel already booked from Sunday to give my wife and I a day or two rest before the gathering from a 20+ hour drive. If we hear word via FB/Twitter/FLH etc. that people are lining up we will check out and head over there (about 10 minutes from the hotel.)

I don’t know how to handle the “Fever” I got it bad this year, worse than previous years and I have no clue why. I think about it every day.
What to be concerned about is the “Juggalo Plague”. I get that every year. I think Scruffy said he avoids it by taking Vit C and stuff to boost his immune system. I’m going to try his suggestions this year and see if I can avoid getting sick after the Gathering.

Man, Psyral, it’s always you that replies to my posts… I’m beginning to think that either the others avoid my posts or that you’re stalking me. Heh.
I’m not on FB anymore (Too much drama, and I realized that all those people I lost touch with but then added as friends, well, there’s a reason we lost touch – I don’t like them! Hell, I don’t like people in general. lol.), so I s’pose I’ll just head there and hope for the best. At least being in my home state I can’t get TOO lost.
Glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s “antsy” to say the least. My kid’s, like, flipping the fuck out about it lol. I keep reminding him he’s still gotta get through an entire baseball season before it’s Gathering time. I swear to Christ he’s gonna be chilling’ on first base mentally banging Piggy Pie and get nailed in the dick with a line drive. I mean, the twerp ain’t exactly the model of FOCUS in the first place lol.

last year i did not contract the plague.
as psyral indicated, i ate eat a bunch of vitamin supplements n shit for a week or two before i left. tried to get in good exercise, too.
once there, i made it a point to stay more or less sanitized. didnt share bongs n such with random anybodies. kept my camp area as clean as possible.
also, as an added bonus, my work gave out free diptet boosters [or tdap, whatever the hell they call em now] to anybody that wanted one, about a month earlier. i dont know how much that contributed, but im certain i didnt get tetanus. or whooping cough.
awfully paranoid, arent you?
