The only acts I haven’t already seen at a Gathering who I would want to and who I think would go over are Zombie, Weird Al and Snoop. I actually would not mind seeing the 3 of them collaborate in some form. It’d be terrible but great at the same time.
People have been asking for Zombie & Snoop for years and years. I’m guessing there’s a reason we haven’t gotten either yet. I saw an interview with J some time ago about getting people to play and he said that they’ve never had anyone refuse, just give them an unrealistic price to perform.
I was looking forward to DMX last year too. Maybe he was planning on taking the ferry but it was closed by the time he got there so he just said fuck it. Probably got paid either way. Speaking of the ferry though, the first year the Gathering was out there there was this old dude set up at the landing on the IL side selling all kinds of random shit. He had knives, rebel flags, ICP shirts and framed pictures of Hitler among other things. I never went out that far any other year but it’s worth checking.
Anyway…they’re marketing this year as “the year of the underground” so I doubt there’s more than 1 or 2 groups that could be considered big names outside of the Juggalo world.

while this is a fair counterpoint, the countercounterpoint is that the games future isnt tied directly to keeping the juggalos happy. in twiztids case, that makes a world of difference.

The countercounterCOUNTERpoint would be that twiztids future success certainly doesn’t hang on the balance of 10k juggalos in the middle of nowhere. They have already proven they’re not willing to compromise their career anymore for psy. Anybody willing to ride with twiztid through these times has made up their mind, and a no show that most people were already waiting for wouldn’t sway them either way. They need distribution, and that doesn’t happen when 5k juggalos buy your shit. They’re out there trying to pick up new non-juggalo fans. You don’t think they’re out there for 70+ shows under the abominationz banner just because they want to reach the juggalos, do you? That’s rhetorical, the answer is no, they’re trying to branch out.
That being said they as twiztid should perform, but I think they need to draw the line at the “super groups”. I saw lotus twice during the AP tour. They sucked. Nobody was in to it, and they let the music ride most of the time. And by nobody was into it I mean them, the performers. I didn’t catch any of the Rydas dates, but i’d imagine it was the same. Although juggalos don’t take social cues very well. So I wouldn’t expect anyone to pick up on it, they were busy listening to the music.

I think they should play the gathering. But I also think it isn’t unimaginable that they wouldn’t, or won’t. They should skip the groups because they’re off PSY. Those are not their groups. Playing them at the gathering gets people thinking they might still make music for them, which they won’t. Since they left PSY. They need to cut all ties to PSY and they know that. They won’t ever get out from the clowns shadow if they won’t stop walking with them. Their future literally rests on this upcoming album. If they can show a label they’re worth distribution they will, in my opinion, finally break all ties. If they can’t get at least US distribution for their next full length they are 100% dead in the water, and they’ll end up doing 100 shows a year until they get what they need.
