I always assumed it was inferred that Targaryens had a degree of control over them. It’s mentioned in the show that the Mad King literally rode on the back of one. When she takes over the Unsullied she commands the dragon to fry the dude that she was trading the dragon to.

I thought by the time of the Mad King the Dragons were so inbred they were no bigger then dogs…It was the ones who conquered who rode them.

the truth of the matter is, stories get embellished with time. my guess the same could be true in the GOT world.

I’m so behind on this show, I’ve only gotten through the first episode of this season. At this point I’ll probably just wait until the season finale & catch up. I was gonna start the books, but since they’ve apparently started to deviate a fair amount, I’m not gonna bother. Besides, reading that many books takes up a lot of time I could be spending making music.

i find a minimum of 2 hours everyday to read my books haha
thats inbetween, work, study, music, dogs and wife. oh and watching tv shows, which i usually do while im studying nowadays. sleep is usually my problem. im working on about 4 – 6 hours a day at the moment.

I have this weird thing about committing to a book because once I start one that’s all I do, so I don’t read as many books as I should. i read (or try to at least) of high epics. fantasy spanning over 5+ books with a good 1500 – 2000 pages per books. i love a good intensely complex magical system aswell hahaha.
ive never really not read. but i started reading quite heavily again about 8 years ago when i got my first kindle.

I was thinking the same thing.
There’s only, like, a HANDFUL of the original characters left alive! I don’t know who the hell to root for cuz they all end up getting off’ed!
Arya has become one of my favorite characters so I hope she makes it. Out of everyone, she seems to have had the most complete and rounded story arc that has become SO detached from ANYTHING that has to do with the Iron Throne that she could have been her own spin-off show.
I have no interest in reading the books. Honestly, Tolkien killed my desire to read fantasy fiction because of all the names and histories and his penchant for talking about every damn stone on every path on the way to where they’re going that I just wouldn’t be able to deal with GoT’s never ending list of fictitious proper nouns… I’m having a hard enough time keeping track of everything I DO manage to remember!
But I got a theory about next season regarding John Snow:
Seeing as they made it a point to show all of John’s blood flowing and the Red Witch/kid killing bitch showing up at the wall and all the shit they were on about “king’s blood”…. I’m thinkin’ she’s gonna bring him back or use his blood to pull some shit.
Oh, and not fer nuthin’ but where the fuck was his Dire Wolf when all that shit went down?! Oh sure, he’ll pop out to save what’s-iz-face when those guys were gonna rape his girl and beat him up but the fucker’s not around when John gets the circle jerk stabbing?! Bad dog!!!
